I was born in the summer of 1986 in Northern California by my hippy parents who carried an affinity for music and art. My father passed away in a tragic car accident when I was Six and in the years that followed I suffered from night terrors brought on by the stress and confusion. I found that i could channel my anxiety through different forms of art especially drawing and painting. My artwork has always carried a fun and playful like quality which comes from the need to create a new reality and break loose from the unfortunate events from my past.
Raised by a single Mother who worked to support three children i was free to be off on my own a lot. I found a love for skateboarding and would explore the San Francisco bay area in search for skateboarding spots. Along the way I found was inspiration through murals on the walls of the cities and the different forms of people i would encounter.
My art has always been heavily character based and I like to explore the quirks of humanity. I’m self taught in painting but studied Cultural Anthropology and Art History in College. Both have become a strong foundation for my art. I like integrating history, pop culture, folk lore and mythology into my work while adding in my little touch of dark humor.
My artwork has been displayed throughout the United States, Europe and South East Asia. I work with spray and acrylic paints. I hand build wooden panels or shape woodcuts for most of my paintings but also like to paint murals. I usually work using spray paint for fills and brushwork for detail. - T.D.N.
